ProSim had the pleasure of talking to Peter from Flight Trainer Aviation Apps about his keen interest in providing training tools that ultimately contribute to pilot training and flight safety.

‘’Quality of training must be top notch.’’ Needless to say, Peter is a Boeing 737 pilot, a qualified instructor and a qualified examiner. ‘’When it comes to standards, anything less than what is required would not be worth it.’’ That’s why all his efforts over the years have been diligently anchored to co-creating the Flight Trainer Aviation Apps.

By 1994 Peter had progressed in his flying career as a pilot from the turboprop to the jet, namely the Boeing 737. On the flight path of his career, Peter has been involved in the training aspect of pilots as an additional function. Aside from the day job, one significant role meant that with the use of fixed based simulators Peter was able to help newly graduated student pilots in maintaining their proficiency while applying for jobs. At a later stage, this proved difficult for those new pilots in the period of the economic crisis in the 2010’s and the training that Peter provided was not only of a high quality standard, but necessary and beneficial. In this role Peter became the Chief Flight Instructor and the Head of Training.

As a flight instructor, Peter was involved in creating Type Rating curriculums for pilots who needed to pass written theory exams and simulator courses. When writing educational programmes Peter accomplished high standard, low cost quick turnaround courses which were effective for the airlines and the private individuals.

Since 2013, Peter has been putting his flying and training skills into developing apps for new pilots and type rating pilots. The preparation of an aircraft for departure, for example, is an important aspect for a pilot and teaching procedures is probably the most critical. But, rather than just saying ‘’You have to do this, you have to do that, it’s about understanding what makes sense to expect what you need to expect and to see what should be there. This way of training became the foundation of the iTrain B737 app and the FMA Trainer B737 app.

With recommended ProSim software and the help of programmer Pim to work on the app and with the use of a local Boeing 737 simulator, Peter managed to change years of original sketches and layouts to creating the app, and to date has made various narrated video clips for YouTube.

By attending a meeting following the COVID crisis on what would be the best way forward from the pilots perspective and how to get pilots flying again, Peter met Hanne Koole from ProSim Training Solutions. Already a happy ProSim software user, being an experienced pilot, trainer and examiner, Peter has helped to refine improved accuracy in making ProSim software even better, suiting both companies.

The benefit of using ProSim software is the flexibility. The software is very clear, represents and replicates the 737 Next Generation and the 737 Max extremely well, in particular, in relation to the Mode Control Panel and Primary Flight Display. Images can be displayed around the screen in different positions which is beneficial in the FMA Trainer tool. ‘’It doesn’t look like simulator software, it looks like the aircraft. The graphics are the best I’ve seen, ProSim have done an excellent job.’’

The Flight Trainer Aviation Apps contains the FMA Trainer B737 and two versions of the iTrain B737, NG and MAX, with a third version for the A320 series in the making.

‘There is a difference between thinking what you know and what you need to do, and what you actually know and what you can do.’

Thanks Peter. Best of luck with the future of your Flight Trainer Aviation Apps.
